Several years ago, a Las Vegas performer named Darren Lee visited Maui with his wife Allison in celebration of his 40th birthday.
But Darren Lee wasn’t just any performer…he’s one of the world’s most successful and highly- acclaimed Elvis tribute artists! In fact, at the time of his first visit to Maui, Darren was the star of the longest-running Elvis show in the history of Las Vegas.
During their vacation, Darren and Allison attended a Maui luau where they witnessed their first hula dancers. Darren was enthralled, and immediately wanted to jump up on stage and start singing Elvis’ hit “Blue Hawaii.”
Fast forward to 2013, when Darren relocated to Maui as the star of an all-new Elvis tribute, Burn’n Love now playing at the Maui Theatre in Lahaina. This amazingly authentic Elvis show is a full-scale live concert production that has been captivating audiences of all ages and musical tastes since its opening.
But there’s more to Darren Lee than hip- shaking showmanship –– “Burn’n Love” Executive Producer Mike Kattawar and Darren partnered with the Maui Food Bank to help feed Maui County’s hungry! A portion of every ticket sold at each show is donated to the Maui Food Bank, and through these funds, Darren has enabled the Food Bank to provide 60,000 meals for those in need.
To our delight, Darren recently stopped in at the Food Bank facility to greet staff and show his support for the Food Bank’s mission.
Darren Lee’s “Burn’n Love” show is an exciting part of Maui’s entertainment landscape, and Lee’s heart for helping Maui’s hungry would most certainly bring a smile to Elvis’ face.
Thank you, Darren, for helping us feed the hungry!
